Strathfieldsaye Recreational Reserve
We Did it!
It’s been almost 10 years in the making, thousands of hours of voluntary time, and the combined resources of the Strathfieldsaye Community, City of Greater Bendigo, State Government the Bendigo Bank and Bendigo Community Telco to realise the communities vision for the Strathfieldsaye Recreation Reserve in Tannery Lane.
The process leading to the formation of the Strathfieldsaye and District Community Enterprise and the relationships with the Bendigo Bank and Bendigo Community Telco.
This enabled the Community to make the financial contribution of $200,000 to go with State Government funding and the City of Greater Bendigo’s Council’s multi-million dollar commitment to the site.
With this work commenced in 2007, with the community launch on Sunday September 21, 2008.
Without the Strathfieldsaye’s Community support and contribution through both the Bendigo Bank and Bendigo Community Telco, the Stathfieldsaye Recreation Reserve would still be a dream. Instead is now used by local sporting and user groups and there’s still more to come.
Along the way we learned that so much more could be achieved by working together and by harnessing our collective skills and resources.” Strathfieldsaye & District Community Enterprise Chairman, Collin Brady.
