Community Plan
The Strathfieldsaye Community Plan had a very successful launch on Monday, 11th May 2009 at the Strathfieldsaye Sports Club with some 60 local community members in attendance. The Plan has been developed over the last 12 months and outlines the community's aspirations of how we wish to see our local area grow and develop. There are 10 key themes outlined in the plan as follows:
- Natural Environment
- Township Appearance and Structure
- Transport and Movement
- Sustainability, Water and Climate Change
- Sport and Recreation
- Education and Training
- Health and Wellbeing
- Support Services
- Entertainment, Arts and Culture
- Shopping and Retail
A number of key priority actions have been identified to support the themes above, and from the Community Plan launch, the following Action Groups have been established:
- Cycle and Walking Paths Action Group - to continue the planning and construction of on-road and off-road cycling and walking paths
- The Strathfieldsaye Sporting Complexes Action Group - to investigate the opportunities for indoor recreational facilities including and indoor heated swimming pool to support the Strathfieldsaye community
- Water Security Action Group - to investigate the options available for delivery of recycled water including the extension of the recycled water pipeline from Spring Gully Reservoir to Strathfieldsaye
- the Sustainable Strathfieldsaye Action Group - who seeks to reduce our community’s carbon footprint and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by exploring Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency options for our community
- Commercial Hub / sense of Rural Amenity Action Group - to facilitate sensitive planning of the commercial town centre and ensure the rural amenity is retained in future developments
- Natural Environment Action Group - to identify and plan for the retention of creek frontages and valued natural environmental assets as whole of community assets
- Traffic Movement Action Group - to act as an advisory group to facilitate future traffic movements in and around Strathfieldsaye

We encourage many people to become actively involved in how you wish to see your local area develop and become a member of one of these Action Groups, or feel free to initiate your own action group that you feel strongly needs to be given attention.
